About Us
Campfire is a rapid fire paragraph roleplay server for advanced players. Our server is IC only and fast and free in the spirit of the tavern chats of yesteryear. We offer a range of genres. Each genre has its own tavern channel (bar, pub, city, or whatever applies).
Read the Server Rules & Info!
Our rules page is a dynamic document. Check back here periodically for updates and keep an eye on our server's announcement channel.

You will be able to view our server when you join, but will not be able to post in chats until you have confirmed in guest-room. To find out how, keep reading. Our server is 18+ Only!
Server Rules & Info - Part One
Player Etiquette
Player Etiquette
1. Don't argue with mods.
2. 18+ adults only, but no smut. Loving smut or having it on your twitter is okay! You just can't do it here. Our age limit is not negotiable!
3. Sometimes the fish ain't biting. Around here you cast a line to see if you get a bite, but there's no guarantee. Freedom is part of the appeal. If you can't seem to hook up with a player, don't get offended, whine or demand an explanation. Rp should be fun! Not something owed.
- Don't seek out staff to rant, micro manage or abuse their messages on discord/off-sites. Don't take things personally.
- Staff doesn't make exceptions for anyone, no matter what their association is off or before the server.
- Staff members are: GreekCeltic, Whomst the FUCK, Jabberwookie, Praeses, Themascura, and Yehl. (Scouts role). Decisions are made as a team. If you DM a staff member, you should assume you are DMing all of them.
- Reporting problems: If there's something you feel you need to report, take a screenshot of it and send it to a mod, no explanation needed. You may need to friend them, that's fine.
- Guests who have been banned from affiliates (JLU, Crossroads, Bricks, etc) may also be banned from Campfire.
- Sometimes the internet throws us a curve ball. We can't cover every nuance of rules/etiquette in one list and sometimes we have to address things that aren't covered here.

4. Be good to your neighbor.
Most of our channels are for roleplay only. OOC is permitted if ((bubbles)) are used, provided it is not disruptive or spam.
5. Keep content relatively safe for work.
6. Your character can be anything, however-
Wherever your imagination takes you is generally fine with us, but if it's something really out there like a living, breathing youtube star, funny Hitler, or works taken from an independent author without permission, we may have feedback.
7. Check #announcements and channel pins.
8. If you make the chat uncomfortable for any reason, we will boot you.
Pretty self-explanatory. The internet is a wild place.

- Stay positive. (No politics, ranting, using the server as a soap box, PSAs, celebrity obituaries, etc.)
- No Fishing for attention, putting yourself down or playing the victim to get a reaction, etc.
- No hate, bigotry, derogatory terms, controversial cuss words, etc. (F-word is fine, but avoid the C-word.)
- Don't @ ping other players unless they have explicitly told you they are okay with it.
- Keep IC and OOC separate and give folks space. They're here to relax.
- Many consider their characters and personal creations to be a part of their personal bubble. Respect their wishes!
5. Keep content relatively safe for work.
- Glorifying hate, self-harm, suicide, rape, child abuse or drug abuse is not allowed. You may touch on these things in backstories and Rp, but treat them with respect.
- Moderate blood and violence is alright, and nudity is alright within reason, but mods get final say on what is 'too much'.
- Linked content should be within server rules, NSFW material must be behind warnings.

7. Check #announcements and channel pins.
- Not all rule tweaks are announced, but once in a while there's something you need to know!
- Channel pins have important information. You are expected to check them! They may be updated periodically.

Server Rules & Info - Part Two
Roleplay Etiquette
Roleplay Etiquette
9. Posts should be a minimum of 130 words long. Passable grammar and spelling required. Third person view only. (It's okay if English isn't your first language. All we ask is that you show us you care.)
Staff is not counting words- that wouldn't be a very good use of our time. Guesstimation is generally fine as long as you don't show a pattern of falling under the limit unreasonably.
Some situations do allow for shorter posts, you can read more on our FAQ page.
10. Use good roleplay etiquette.
Good roleplay etiquette comes with time. We can't cover it all here.
11. Preserve the rapid fire spirit.
Rp should happen in bursts with a quick turn around. You may continue slow paced games- but staff may ask you to move to a different place or resume rapid fire.
12. Staff may have feedback.
We have our own way of doing things. We try to give newcomers a chance to acclimatize, and may poke some but not others depending on the situation, context and history of the players involved. Reminders/pokes are not reprimands. If you're not comfortable receiving a gentle poke while playing, this is not the server for you.

10. Use good roleplay etiquette.
Good roleplay etiquette comes with time. We can't cover it all here.
- You don't have to ask to enter a game or change the time of day/weather. Tavern style Rp is messy and there are often multiple scenes happening independently.
- Turns are casual/preferential. Some guests are only available for an hour or two and can't afford to wait.
- Don't god mode or control the characters of others (including their NPCs). True NPCs are in the channel pins.
- Avoid scene crashing/crowding, etc. Basically, just give people space or a way to walk away from your character without breaking theirs or trashing a scene they already had going.
- It is permissible to glaze over things that would break your character's understanding of the world or disrupt your Rp, but be tactful.
11. Preserve the rapid fire spirit.
Rp should happen in bursts with a quick turn around. You may continue slow paced games- but staff may ask you to move to a different place or resume rapid fire.
- Turn around: When engaging another player or addressing their character, posts should be returned within an hour. The rest of the time live free.
- Note the time: If a post is more than a couple of hours old, don't reply directly to it. That player may have moved on. Write a neutral entry post instead. They'll wake up and adapt if they're still feeling a game.

Reminders/pokes are not reprimands. If you're not comfortable receiving a gentle poke while playing, this is not the server for you.
13. Don't hound people for RP.
If you're looking to play with someone, we recommend starting with a non-committal head nod IC. A wave or a glance will do. If they're feeling a game they'll reciprocate and build on the interaction from there. Give them the option to disengage.
Avoid begging for games OOC. Just post.
14. If you're not feeling an rp with someone.
You don't have to play with them or explain. It's fair to let an IC nudge bounce off or write your character away from an interaction. You can say no. No one should feel pressured to play here, and no one should have to explain why their interests lie elsewhere.
15. Trouble keeping up?
16. Don't hump legs for attention. Try not to use emojis or actions like 'glomping', 'licking', 'hugging', etc to get a player's attention. It's often not clear what these messages mean and can put them on the spot. If you have to ask something OOC- use your words.
17. Don't be creepin'.
Guests who show a habit of forcing unsolicited or inappropriate DMs on other players will be banned. It's okay to DM someone, roleplayers gotta communicate, but let them know what you want in the first message and don't get personal on the first date. A good rule of thumb is just be polite and don't overshare. These guys are here for IC, not OOC.
18. Don't get offended. If you don't agree with how something is being done, there's plenty of other servers out there.
19. Finally, confirm in guest room.
To gain full access to the server, go to #guest-room and submit the following together:
1. Confirm (in words) that you are 18+.
2. Confirm that you have read the rules.
3. Include a sample post (in the same channel). Minimum 130 words, no less! (No links, use text!)
4. Optional: Tell us where you found us!
[!] DO NOT delete your post once roled!
A staff member will role you when one is available. By submitting to guest-room you confirm that you understand our rules.
(The chat history in guest-room is invisible to guests. You'll be able to scroll back and read other samples after a staff member sees your post.)

15. Trouble keeping up?
- Players often use bolds to express that they're engaging another character. See our FAQ page for details.
- It's normal to skim posts. There will be a lot of people playing at a time and you are not expected or required to reply to every detail.
- There is no limit to how many people can be playing at once. If we need more space, we'll make more chats.
